Inspired by the shape of the Chinese character “chung” in Taichung, the theater, with its curved walls and specialty glass screens, has come to resemble a giant, rounded teapot. We invite everyone to drink deeply from this teapot’s contents and become intoxicated with the arts.
With a striking yet subtle design, the theater’s shape gradually shifts, emblematic of a stage curtain subtly swaying. With a never-ending array of styles and artistic philosophies radiating from within the venue, it is as if everyone is reading off the same score and in sync with the same rhythmic force. The red color represents artistic passion, and within its graceful atmosphere, the National Taichung Theater has the unique spirit to simultaneously preserve the weight of tradition and breathe new life to the present and future of the arts.
